I don’t know how the weather has been lately wherever you’re reading this, but here, we’ve been having some really hot temperatures since more than a week ago. I am sure you’ve come across the news saying Canada has reached almost 50 °C or which is the same 122 °F … and some still say climate change isn’t a thing. But, we aren’t here to discuss any of that. For me, Summer is a synonym for getting together with friends to enjoy a beer, a cocktail, or a tinto de verano -the Spanish wine cocktail. When I was a child and it was warm outside, Sunday lunch meant going out to a restaurant as a family. My parents would ask for sangria or clerico even. I was curious, and yes, I might have asked for it as well, but I became more fond of the tinto de verano as I grew older. Now, at home, we prepare it whenever we find a good excuse, meaning, every time we want a fresh frisky drink that doesn’t require a lot of effort for hot summer days. This is the version we serve at home and it takes less than 5 minutes to prepare.
